New Leadership Vows to Restore Cathcart High School to Former Glory
The newly appointed Principal of Cathcart High School, Ms. Nyameka Kene, has vowed to bring the school back to its former glory. Ms. Kene reiterated her commitment to the institution, stating that “everything is possible when all the parties involved are pulling together in the same direction.” She shared these sentiments while bidding farewell to the Grade 12 Class of 2026 at their recent matric dance.
“I am close to my retirement, but I want to grab this opportunity with both hands and bring about change in the school,” remarked Ms. Kene—who took over the reins from Mrs. Gail Hart—with a smile during an exclusive interview with IDikelethu News.
Walking down the red carpet and looking gorgeous alongside her Deputy Principal, Ms. Nomampondomise Khalipha, she continued: “We may be looking stunning, but today is not about us. We are here to celebrate the academic efforts of our learners and to wish them the best of luck in their future endeavors.”
Lethu Matha, a Grade 11 learner who was elected to serve on the committee assisting matriculants with preparations for the special event, said the evening was highly motivating. He noted that he “can’t wait” to be in Grade 12 next year and “dress to kill.” The Grade 12 learners were all looking stunning in their beautiful outfits, clearly over the moon to be receiving the VIP treatment.
